Biography

A long time ago, back when the Empire was at it's peak and conquering countries left and right, they came across a steppe that natives call the 'Sea of Grass' today. A seemingly endless stretch of land, not really suitable for anything but letting animals graze. Several warring tribes called this steppe home, but these barbarians were of little interest to the imperials, so they moved on, claiming the steppe as theirs and doing little else, as what could these savages possibly offer them?

These tribes could be identified by what Totem Animal they worshipped, but back then there was not really a visual difference.

The Shroud drew ever closer however, and soon its influence strengthened enough to give shape to the beliefs of each tribe. The Totem Animals became more than just folklore, and distinctive traits started to slowly, but surely pop up over the centuries. The Tribe of the Lion King for example, got traits from the Hornlions they were named after, which is to say, feline-like ears (though not rounded like those of IRL lions), curved horns and a tail with a small tuft at the end, and several less visible ones, such as changed senses.

Over time these tribes civilised, but it was too little and too late, there simply not being enough members left of each tribe. Nowadays the number has shrung to three-hundred-something 'tribes'-men and women, most of which can't interbreed with each other due to differing physiologies. They can each breed with normal humans, however it causes their offspring to lose the traits of the Totem Animals their ancestors -and even they themselves, albeit to a lesser extent- worship(ped).

Meet I'shtara Blaze, a Treasure Hunter who, much to her (and everyone around her's) dismay ever seems to live in interesting times. If the old adage about a feline having nine lives is true, then undoubtedly a few have already been shaved off, even if she seems to have almost supernatural luck in surviving the seemingly impossible.

She is a middle child, having an older brother and a younger sister.
[To be Continued...]
Personality

I'shtara is generally pretty nice, although sometimes, 'smart' remarks seem to leave her lips without she herself realising at first. She usually doesn't mean them though, and will, at times, apologise profusely for them. The same is, to a lesser extent, true for cat puns. She has for the most part trained herself out of that particular habit, but a childhood of living with her dad in particular has left it's mark on her.

She may simply seem laidback to those who don't know her, but the truth is that she's rather apathetic to most things. That's not to say she's heartless or anything, she can feel quite strongly about things. It's more a case of her 'I don't care' usually meaning: 'These choices are equally (un)appealing, (un)important and (un)rewarding as far as I can see, so I'll just go with the flow'.

This all changes in battle, as she inherited her family's battle lust. It's not to the degree of being a berserker, as she's quite capable of keeping her rational thinking, and she won't go out of her way to look for a fight, but it does not take away that it's when it combat that she feels most alive.

Magic & Skills

Magic:
-Elemental (Wind) Magic: 9/10
Unlike what her name would suggest, I'shtara has a very strong affinity to wind magic, much to her her and her fire-aspected family's initial confusion. While capable of straightforward attack magic, she doesn't use this often, having a fondness of the less obvious and more esoteric applications, mostly using this magic to subtly enhance her performance using other skills.

One very obvious skill she does indulge in at times is flight. While capable of using this in combat, she's not good enough to use more than the basics of this skill in combat, at most using it in bursts to enhance her speed, jump high, or negate the need to find stable footing where it can not be easily found. Aerial battles she has far less skill in, not due to lack of talent, but due to a lack of enemies capable of flight so far.

Weapon skills:
- Swordplay: 4/10
I'shtara used to learn swordplay when she was young, but she didn't excel at it, as the weapon in question just didn't suit her.
- Bow 7/10
Once her Wind Affinity became known her older brother decided to gift her bow, which she was a whole lot better with. It would even be a smart choice, when coupled with her flight ability, but it was still not quite the weapon for her, due to her battle lust not being satisfied with just sniping at enemies from a distance. She's capable of it, but she doesn't carry a bow with her, it being too unwieldy when considering the fact she doesn't use it often.
- Daggerplay: 8/10
(5 or 6/10 when focused on pure dagger skill level. But enhanced with knack/magic/experience in combat)
While her daggers are by far the most comfortable weapon she is acquaintance with, she is mostly self-taught, only getting pointers from other adventurers here and there, which doesn't happen all that often, leaving room for improvement.

Other skills:
- Lockpicking, Trap Detection and the like.
- Can sense the presence (or rather lack thereof) of undead. (Esoteric wind magic thing. She can and does use it, but doesn't know the theory behind it IC.)

Gear
  • Set of daggers. Old magic used in their creation. Conducts magic slightly better than most weapons. Preservative Enchantment. Auto-repairs with iron found in blood, albeit veeeeeeeery inefficiently. Found in Tomb.
  • Pendant. Gem enchanted to glow upon detecting poison.
  • Throwing Knives
  • Lockpicks, Rope etc.
