On a warm Autumn evening within the jungles of Nym, a lone troll sat at the edge of a stream deep in thought; blankly gazing into the simmering waters below as he contemplated what happened the day before.
He had gotten into one of his nasty moods while he was boozing in the floodlands and met a couple fellows that weren't particularly fond of Ogroids, of course we all know how that went, in fact Arboth was holding one of their heads in his right hand right now. The only issue was: these two men were guards for the small village nearby and the violence he committed that day didn't end there either; he had gotten hungry and approached a merchant cart and just sort of..took it.
So now he had a small price on his head and had to find a new forest to live in to avoid being hunted by a small mob, frustrated he emitted a low grumble before crushing the severed head in his hand like an apple. Finally pulling his glare away from the water, he stood up with blood and brain matter still dripping from his fingers and began to continue his seemingly never ending journey through the unfamiliar territory he was in now.

Oigzienqea was unfamiliar with the Old Empire, but what little she did know made more sense to her than the tribes of the Cathwa Nation. She had arrived by boat some time in the week and followed her instinct, in search of whatever the Myst seemed intent on guiding her to. Unlike the Cathwa Nation, the laws of the Old Empire differed little and matched the more distinguished tribes of the desert, making it easier for her not to get in as much trouble. Still, the populace’s general disdain for her kind led her away from the cities and roads, traveling off road in search of… something.

Her travels had led her to the Jungles of Nym, where the drastic change in wildlife nearly caught her off guard. She had heard the Empire’s expanse covered many different biomes, but having grown so accustomed to the desert, verdant forest land and trees tall enough to make her feel like an ant piqued her curiosity. Far from any major cities, she came to a clearing just large enough to host a stream. Rather than kneel down, she outstretched a hand, causing the water to burble and churn as a piece of it fountained upward, giving the woman a chance to take a sip.

Nearby, a large creature with as little regard for humanity as her finished his business from upstream and began to lumber off. Her pupil-less gaze turned towards it, having not seen something of its kind before. It called for further investigation, and she moved to follow him, unperturbed by its massive stature.

Arboth was oblivous to the small she-goblin trailing him, he was rather easy to follow; leaving crushed branches and large footprints in his wake. All that was on his mind was what he was gonna eat next; he was growing hungry again and after a bit of trudging layed his eyes upon a lone deer grazing on a small hilltop.

Having no time or patience to set traps, he kept his eyes locked onto the spike-horn while he scooped a stone up off the ground about the size of a toddlers head. He began to close in on it not realizing that he wasn't the only one that wanted that deer: while Arboth was stalking the herbivore four wolves were doing the same to him, wasting no time one of them pounced onto his back and sunk it's teeth into his shoulder while the others snapped and clasped down on his ankles and legs.

Releasing a loud snarl, the wandering troll grabbed the canine on his back by the snout and pulled it off him before swiftly breaking it's neck with a harsh twist and a loud yelp. At the same time he was doing this he had stomped down on anothers skull and applied all his body weight on that foot killing the beast practically instantly. Before the remaining two wolves could start reteating he wielded the fresh carcass in his hand like a weapon.

He slammed it down into the dogs like an enraged primate, knocking them to the ground before yanking his club from the rope wrapped around his torso and finishing them off with 3 downward swings. With the deer obviously long gone, he began to feed on the wolf-bodies while the pain from the minor bite wounds on his body began to set in.

It was evident that the entity was a hunter, based on how Oigzienqea had gleaned the bodily fluids dripping from the troll’s fingers moments earlier. She watched with a keen interest as the wolves moved to assault it, and how it handled itself. She had no doubt that the wolves had picked up on her scent as well, but given how they forwent her in search of larger prey, she had assumed them to be more fearsome creatures.

That, or the troll before her was more fearsome than she imagined. The creatures of Cathwa were different, but like the wolves, they possessed sharp claws and teeth, just noticeably less fur.

Rather than tail him any further, Oigzienqea waited for him to finish his meal before she made her presence known, gazing up at the lumbering figure while she spoke, approaching from his left flank slowly. She saw the wounds on him - minor, whereas in comparison to her, she very well might have lost a limb. Perhaps his hide was initially thicker than she had expected.

“Salutations. I am Oigzienqea.”

Still on edge; at the sound of Oig's voice he flinched a bit, raising his fist slightly while doing so before he got to actually look at her. Not knowing the meaning of the word 'salutations' Arboth tilted his head to the side before responding:
" how small lady get here? "

His voice was deep and he spoke slowly with insanely inept grammar, he was a bit confrontational when he had asked where she came from but he needed to keep his guard up in case she came from the floodlands. While the two conversed the troll rubbed his shoulder where one of his bite-wounds were, squinting his eyes a bit in pain.

Sensing his lack of vocabulary, Oigzienqea paused, as if trying to figure out how to answer the question. The true answer would have been the Myst, what with her having emerged alongside the orcs with the Second Myst Surge. Rather than get into a lengthy discussion about her lack of memory before life on Avsolom, she responded simply and prudently.

“By boat. Something drew me here from across the sea. The humans here are… different. The people where I’m from only answer to themselves and their neighbors. I have never seen trees so large before, nor so many at a time.”

Part of her thought she liked the desert better. Maybe it was the decentralization of the nation, where crimes in one city weren’t equated across the territory. The desert, she found, was much easier to hide in, to get away with things. Additionally, there was no clear majority of racial population; jackalmen, orcs, goblins, even dragons. The notion of humans ruling and expanding in such a way as the Empire unsettled her.

Catching sight of his injuries, she offered him aid.

“I can heal those wounds, if you’d like.”

" Please, Arboth legs hurt. "
The troll replied, his tone and body language becoming more relaxed and friendly. Oig's story seemed too add up to him; from what little he understood. She wasn't from here so he decided he'd show her how to survive in a forest rather than a desert; however first they'd have to find or create some form of shelter before nightfall, wolves Arboth could fight off with ease but bears and jungle cats would most likely be an even match for him which meant they were a death-sentance for Oigzienqea.

" We find cave, Arboth keep small lady safe from monsters. "
The troll said while she worked on his wounds, the sun was already starting to go down and Arboth didn't know which areas where inhabited by beasts, Necrophages and Spectres and which ones were safe. He kept referring to Oig as 'small lady' because her full name would be impossible for him to pronounce correctly.

“Very well, Arboth. Do your best to relax, this won’t take long.”

The goblin outstretched her arms, fingers twirling and weaving in intricate manners as she appeared to focus on the troll’s very form. A mist began to form around him, drawn from the very air itself as it began to envelope him, becoming thickest around his injuries. At first, he’d begin to feel numb before a rather pleasant, warm feeling coursed over the bites and scratches. She continued this for a few moments, incorporating a gentle swaying motion into her arms before the mist finally dissipated, having sealed the wounds and regrown his flesh. She let her arms fall to her sides, and the mist dissipated.

“Good as new.”

His next statement would have earned a raised eyebrow from her, had she been anyone else. Instead, she stared at him blankly, occasionally incorporating a blink as if she were an owl.

“Monsters do not scare me. It is civilization that perplexes me. Humans make rules as they go; it is unnatural. They trade coins for food because they’re pretty. Nothing they do makes sense. But I will follow you. Even goblins need rest.”

The troll picked her up by the waist without warning and set her on his shoulders
" no let go. "
He said before quickly lumbering through the trees. He followed the stream for about 15-20 minutes to it's beginning; a large waterfall with a small cave mouth at the top, he scaled the incline and after finally reaching the top he stood outside the entrance to the cave

" small lady have fire? Arboth no see in the dark.. "
he asked while grasping his club; he had no idea who or what was inside but he assumed if something did live inside it probably wouldn't welcome the two as guests.

If Oigzienqea was displeased with being picked up, she didn’t let it show. Instead, she sat on the troll’s shoulder, legs folded and ankles curled behind one of his armpits for leverage. Falling from a height greater than 8 feet definitely wasn’t on her agenda. As they traveled, she kept her eyes peeled. Something told her that the troll was on the move for a reason and it likely wasn’t just to explore.

They reached the mouth of the cave without circumstance. At one point, Oigzienqea gave the duo a much needed boost, using the wind to aid in their ascent as Arboth climbed towards it. Water on the rocks quickly evaporated, her hands outstretched as she wove her magic through the environment.

He inquired about fire, but she shook her head. “I have tinder and flint, but no torch.” She outstretched a hand, pooling together water into an orb that took on a glow and illuminated their surroundings as if it were a lantern. It hovered in front of the duo and would move alongside them as they traversed through the cave.
