Catrina and some of her guards were disembarking in docks of Noria, she had no doubt Quirinus Varn would have spies here, and may even make an attempt on her. After all, he has had an attacked order Silas Hael, well that is what she has heard. She was here for two reasons, one to make sure he was okay, she wished she could have come sooner, but she could not. The second was to offer to help in revenge as a true ally and help attack his house in the open. She may her way out the harbour, her men made sure she had a clear path. As she did not want to have to face one of Varns assassins in the open, as that would betray her as a ritual vampire. She just hoped no flea bitten werewolf was here, as they were annoying. She soon got a carriage and the horses were unloaded, so they could get to House Hael quickly.

They head towards the manor house, and she hoped he was well enough to receive her. As he was one of the few people she liked and wished she could be truthful too, but it was not to be, as if he knew who she was he would reject her, and their secret would be out. The wolves would certainly be on their doors then, as they were the true vampires, not some minor thing. As she came to the house in the day light hours, it looked different, it looked really beautiful for a building. Her coach pulled up outside the house, some staff began assembling, she really hoped he was well enough to receive her, but she would not know until she got out.

It was a cooler day by Norian standards but would likely still feel a bit warm compared to the Nothern Provinces. There was a pleasant breeze moving through the trees of the estate as Silas made his way outside his home.

He had arrived back South several weeks prior, still recovering from his injuries there. He leaned on his cane as the carriage bumped down the path that led from the front gates to the manor itself. He was somewhat surprised to hear that Catrina had arrived back in Noria. She was starting to make somewhat frequent trips, not that Silas minded in the least. Their trade deals with Volkarna had proved invaluable to his house, and Catrina was definitely not unpleasant to work with.

He smiled as the woman descended from the carriage, taking several steps forward. "Catrina, its good to see you," he said warmly. It was practiced in making any greeting sound sincere, but in her case, it was not a faked. "One of these days you are just going to have to admit that you love the south and move here permanently." he joked with a smile.

It was a warm day here, by Volkarna standards. As she got out of her coach she saw Silas Hael greeted her, she grinned as it meant he was not to badly injured. He said it was good to see her, and joked about her moving south. It is good to see you too Silas, but these southern climates are far to warm for me. Her smile disappeared, as this was business, but pleasure can be mixed can't it? She then asked I heard the climate in Leore, is good this time of year. She did not smile at that, as this was business. As her ally has been attacked, thus she had been attacked.

She looked at the front door, and wonder where she would be sleeping. She knew where she wanted to sleep, but he may not want the gossip of her being his mistress. She looked back at him, and with a light smile on her lips, So you must tell me everything about Leore, and leave no detail out. she leaned in, and whispered, Maybe you will come further north next time? She then waited to be lead into his manor, her knights who escorted waited for direction to the stables.

"And yet you always come." he said with a smile. "We will turn you into a southern girl, yet." he continued jokingly before turning to turn inside.

"The weather in Leore was fine I suppose," he said casually as they entered the foyer of the home. "I plan on it as soon as time allows," he said. He would very much like to visit the far northern province, but things needed to stabilize here first. "Can I have anything brought to you?" he asked turning towards her. He wasn't one for political cloak and dagger games. "Or would you rather talk about the attack?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

He guessed she was here for information, there was little else for her here. The trade between Noria and Volkarna was going steady, proving to be beneficial for both parties.

She smiled as he said he planned to go north when time permits she commented back, That might be some time, as your time is precious. Then he asked about what next, she just smiled and said Some cool water and an iced bun, I have heard so much about them. She did not normally eat human food but she was keeping up appearances. Then added without a smile I am interested in the attack, but moreover what your intentions are to do about it. and I have three thousand men, to back you in any play you wish. I hope if needed I can raise more, but I can't guarantee it. She hoped he realized the attack on him, she considered an attack on her, as she said they were allies.

She followed him in, to his manor house. It was quite beautiful inside, as she entered a few her bags came in as well. Her servants, looked for direction to take her bags, and she looked at Silas Hael to offer the guidance.
Oh, and where will my knights be staying? She was in the hostile territory now, so she had brought protection with her. As until this is resolved, she was a possible target for Quirinus Varn and his snipes on House Hael.

He nodded to a servant who would fetch the items Catrina had asked for. As they made their way further inside some of the house staff would offer to take any bags brought it.

His face dipped into a bit of a frown as she mentioned having an army. He wanted may things like revenge and justice, but war was not one of them. If war came to Noria, innocent people would die and enough innocent blood had been spilled already. He ignored the comment for the moment, he trusted his staff but these things needed to be discussed privately, not out in the open.

"We have housing at the back of the property that should accommodate all of your knights and servants." he said before a brief pause "and you if you so wish, though you are certainly welcome to sleep here. Where ever you would be more comfortable." he said, letting her decide.

Catrina's refreshments were brought out and Silas guided her into his office and shut the door behind them. "What do you mean you have 3,000 men. Hopefully, they aren't nearby?" he asked. An army would surely complicate things. He wasn't sure how, but he was sure it would.

He obviously did not like the fact she had a force ready to back him, but she had one nonetheless. Though maybe she did act with haste, in that matter, she preferred to be ready for all options. He then moved the said she could sleep here, she smiled broadly, and then took his hand, she knew where she wanted to sleep. I will happily sleep here. She replied to him, after being given the offer.

They moved into his office, and the cakes were brought in, and the door was shut behind them, they were alone. She took an iced bun, and as she did he asked about the three thousand men she had,
No they are not near, She replied, then continued They can be here within a month of you asking for them, as five hundred are Volkarna troops, the other two and half thousand are mercenaries on retainer. I can ask for more from Jarl Heinrich Kriege if we need more, but I think if you added your men, we can take Quirinus Varn down, and stop his family plaguing you anymore. She paused and took a bite from the iced bun, the thing was sticky and got between her fangs. She did not like the taste of it, but it did not show. She then continued, Though this would not happen without your consent, as this is your home. Though if you did take this action, you would become the supreme ruler of Noria, not just a member of the ruling council. Though the way this plays out is yours, This was unless they kill him, in which case they will march regardless, as my family has to save face and say they stood by an ally. So you tell me what you want? She then sat down opposite him and waited for a reply.

Her hand felt cool in his, both comforting and slightly concerning. He wanted to trust someone, something but his world had been spinning for so long he wasn't sure which way was up anymore. She had been here through the most of it, had been more loyal than anyone else, but her motives were still hidden to him. It couldn't be about trade; no one went this far for food.

He listened as she further explained the location and source of her troops. It was no secret that he disliked mercenaries. It was there blatant honesty that loyalty was something to be bought that made him uneasy. If he was candid with himself, he fully understood that was how the entire world worked, but he had to tell himself that his honor was better than that.

Did he want to be the leader of Noria? He didn't want to be the leader of his own house. He was supposed to be the unimportant son, the forgotten one, but now it felt like everything was on him.

He stood slowly, walking to a window and looking out it. "I don't know what I want, Cat. I don't know what the right thing is, or even if there is a right thing," he said, leaning both hands on the window sill.

Silas felt like he was standing on the edge of something that there was no turning back from, and it all fell to him to decided how things fell.

It was an incredibly lonely feeling.

She watched him, and he moved to the window and looked out of it. She moved behind him and laid her hands on his hips as he spoke, and as he finished speaking, she gently leaned in and kissed him at the back. Look if you are unsure what to do, write down all your possible choices, from doing nothing to marching on him in force, and everything in between. Then write down the possible outcomes of all these choices, both good and the bad. Then work out which is the least costly action, with the best result, and do that. She spoke in a soft voice and then moved next to him, looking out of the window.

As she looked out the window, she moved her hand near his, he could take it if he wanted. She wished she could fully explain her motives, but she can not. She wanted Noria as an ally for generations, and not just for his lifetime. She wishes she could reveal herself as a Ritual Vampire, but the rules of her people forbade it. She thought about turning him, but he would resent her for doing it. She really liked him, but could never truly be with him, as she had to keep part herself separate.

She then looked at him, and asked Shall we write down each scenario, then choose one, and get this weight off your mind? This would start as a list, then work out each eventual outcome, he needs to win, and the House Varn need to lose.

Silas looked out over the gardens, feeling his breathing constricting ever so slightly under the anxiety he felt. He tensed slightly as she gently slid hands around him but quickly relaxed under her touch.

He leaned back slightly, feeling her body against his. It was comforting to him. He let no one close to him, but she had found a way through those defenses. It was dangerous, being this comfortable with someone but he longed for it, needed the connection.

He listened to her words. They were sensible, almost too sensible but he couldn't help but grin. "Spoken like a businesswoman," he said as he continued to look forward. It still didn't feel right to distill the fate of an entire city down to a list. He shifted slightly as she moved around beside him. There was a part of him that wished she hadn't let go.

They could stay here, but Silas had the urge to get away for a bit. Maybe that would help him think. "Do you know how to ride a horse?" he asked as he placed a hand over hers, thumb sliding gently over the smooth skin of her hand. Here in Noria, horses it was common enough, but he wasn't sure about the customs of Volkarna and he had always seen her ride in carriages. She could always ride on the back of his horse if she didn't know how to. "Care to go for a ride?" he asked.

He was unsure if she would be willing to leave her guards behind, but he was dying for some time away from his. They had watched over him like a hawk since he had returned. Even with the dangers, he needed space.

She listened to his reply, it was true, she saw all things like this as a business, as it better to be unemotional about it. As emotion will miss guide you, and then you make critical mistakes. Then asked her a question, can she ride a horse. She laughed a little, and then replied Not very well, it is a bit cold in Volkarna for them, we do let the knights train obviously. She then leaned in and whispered softly, but don't expect me to ride sidesaddle, as I can't, sorry. She had heard that the southern ladies ride that way, but since horse riding in the north was mainly done for war, the few times she has done, it was done with some knights. This was one of the reasons she mainly road in a carriage, so as not to show herself up.

She thought for a moment, and then asked,
May I ask about security, or will we be fine here? She was nervous, as she did not want to have to fight, and show what she really was. Though they were probably safe here, and to attack a foreign dignitary would be stupid and be asking for those troops to march on them. As that would change everything, in the political dynamic, as he would set themselves against a city-state. That would not go down well for them, though if they planned on killing her and trying to blame Silas Hael then that might work if she could be killed so easily.

She then decides
Okay let's go but don't lose me, I don't know my way around here. She then just realized she was probably not wearing suitable clothes, to ride in. So she asked Do I need to get changed?

He smiled as leaned up and whispered in his ear, her breath sending chills down his spine as it tickled the hairs on his neck. "I am sure you will be fine." he said with a grin before turning to leave with her.

She asked about security, and he internally groaned. He was so tired of being trailed by guards. He was, of course, thankful for the work they did and the service to his family but he wanted to be alone even if it was just for a time. "We are safe enough I believe, but you are of course welcome to bring any number of you guard if it makes you feel more comfortable," he said as they made their way towards the back of the house.

"I wouldn't dream of it." he said with a smile. He paused as she asked about clothing. She was right, she was wearing a beautiful dress but it may not be the best riding apparel. "Please whatever makes you most comfortable. If you do not have anything suitable, my servants can surely assist you," he said looking to one of the women who had been following them.

They would help her find anything she might need while Silas made his way outside and retrieved the horses. He, of course, was riding his own horse, Star Dust. She was a towering creature, bred for war. For Catrina, he chose a gray mare by the name of Lady. The horse was not aggressive and had an easy temperate. She was the perfect horse for beginners.

He guided them towards the house and awaited Catrina to join them.

She smiled and nodded as he said she will be fine. He then marked on security, she said If you say we will be safe, then no security is required. She then smiled as he promised not to lose her, and replied You better not, or else! She said it with a smile, she was looking forward to this. Then he told one his servants, to get her a suitable riding outfit, she smiled, and gave him a quick kiss, on the cheek and followed her.

She was taken to a room, it may have been one of the rooms.
I am sure the lady of this room will not mind you borrowing her riding gear, she is about your size. She turned to the servant girl and said Thank you, I am unaccustomed to borrowing clothes, but needs must. She then asked politely, So which is the riding dress? The servant went over to the wardrobe, and then helped her pick out an outfit, it was very fetching. Why thank you, it looks lovely, She quickly got changed into it, it was the not the snuggest of fits, and a little loose on the belly, and tight around the chest. Though it still looked nice, she would have her own made after this ride.

As she left the manor she was greeted by Silas Hael he had a grey horse for her,
So what's is she called? She asked, wondering what to call her horse, as she tried to figure the best way of mounting her.

He smiled as she came down the stairs from the house. The dress she had been given was colored in the same blue and red that House Hael claimed for its colors. Perhaps it would send the wrong message to those passersby who would see them today but Silas couldn't help but be captured somewhat by her.

"This." he said patting the horse's neck "..is Lady." he continued as he motioned for her to get closer. "She is about as sweet as they come," he said hoping to ease her mind a bit.

When she was ready Silas put his hand on one of the stirrups "Put your left leg here, and when I left you up, just swing your other leg over. Its pretty easy." he said. When she was ready he placed his hands around her and hoisted her up as she pushed upwards with her foot. He had worked with new riders enough to take care not to get kicked by her other leg.

"Perfect," he said with a smile. He quickly climbed up onto his own horse. They spent the next few minutes in the hard going over the basics of riding, allowing Catrina and the horse to become familiar with one other.

When she seemed comfortable they made the way outside the town, Silas going slow. "So you say Volkarna is too cold for riding," he said, making conversation as he guided them away from town and towards the cliffs that overlooked the town. "You are going to have to do som better convincing if you want to get me all the way up there," he said, chuckling as he joked.

She smiled when he told her name of the horse, she wonders if she made the name up to flatter her. She said the horse was as sweet as they come, she was happy with that, as she did not want to have handled a horse that likely to bolt. He then told her how to mount the horse, she followed his instructions. As she got on it moved a bit, she managed to hold on to her rains. He said Perfect with a smile at her, his sweet smile she liked seeing it, something she did not see when talking about House Varn. She replied quickly, with a polite Thank you, your too kind.

She spent the next few minutes, getting used to her horse. The horse was actually quite easy to ride and followed instruction well. As she got used to it, not trying anything too difficult, she asked Silas Hael, So will Snowy be joining us, and how is he doing in a warmer climate? This was a genuine question, as she did like that little puppy, and choose it personally for him, it certainly was not the runt of the litter.

As she got comfortable they began to ride out of the town, he made fun of her home.
I never said it was too cold for riding, just riding horses. Was her sultry reply to him, with a pretend stern look. Then added But seriously though, despite the lack of horse riding, there are other things to see other than me, like the mines, the volcanoes, the hot springs. She knew he never likes the climate of Volkarna, as it was harsh, no ifs or buts about it.

She looked over the cliff, at the view of volkarna, knowing he would never truly be hers. As humans do like to have children, something she understood, and could not give him. She frowned a little bit, wondering how long she can keep this love affair going before he asks questions. She liked him, she did not know why but she did, so much so, she put herself in a precarious position back home. As she was backing what seemed like the weaker house in noria on paper.
