CATHWA NATION: SETASUT
Mid Morning

Alexis Solis ; Algarus

Cathwa nation. A place filled with deserts, rough mountains, and the known world's worst jungle. It even had a cold section near the top that was frozen half of the year around. As if this small continent needed all four seasons? It seemed wherever one went there was a climate for everyone. Well on this certain day, the climate the girl was heading for was muggy and wet. Her goal was the Lantheri Wilds. But first, she had to pass through Setasut. Allison Solis had been all over the land of Avsolom in these past few months. She visited Noria first, then Volkarna. Then she pack tracked some to a hidden camp near Leore (if she read her map right at the time). The redhead girl with no apparent homestead was looking for clues about her past, and she knew the Empire would not have what she needed. Allison needed something that predated the Empire. Hence, her voyage to Lantheri Wilds.

From her stay in the abandoned fort where she met a lovely lost soul like herself, Allison felt the need to travel the world clockwise. Her partner chose to trek the opposite, wishing to see the wonderful city of Noria. But Allison had nothing waiting for her there anymore. And she was in a hurry to discover the truth of her heritage. She'd already gained several of her memories back, but they made little sense to her. So, she left Leore and found a boat to take her to Nal Sur. While the continent was mostly anti-Magi, Nal Sur was a place she could travel in and out without being bothered. She was there only for a day and without any events to tread her down. Now, she was departing into a lush green section of Cathwa which was far different than the desert she expected in her head. At first she had to ask to make sure they were in the right port; which got some laughs on her part for her naive sense of navigation. Assuring the redhead that they were indeed in Cathwa, she departed and went out to find someplace to stay the night.

Her plan was to stay in this town for only a day or so. She liked to be on a mission. Staying in one place bogged her down. She needed answers, and every night she wasted staring at the ceiling (or the stars if she were outside) was time wasted. But there was something that caught her eyes in Setasut which caused the redhead to stop dead in her tracks. In the busy intersection of traffic, she saw a booth that for the most part was no different than any other blacksmith she'd seen before. Only, there were glass figures and kitchenware on one of the shelves near the work bench.

Allison apologized to the people she was holding up and squeezed her way through the busy pedestrians until she made her way to the glass. She gently lifted it up and began to inspect it. The way it shined was a thing of beauty. She'd seen windows in her time at Noria, but to see it shaped into something was a miracle. How had it been done?

The day began like most sale days for Akasha, crawling out of bed, fixing her hair, and hoping for the love of god that her merchandise survived the transition to outside. Her glass-works weren't fragile to an extreme degree, but there was also some pompous ass who thought it would be funny to kick or knock over one of her works while she was inside fetching the rest. She set a display of vases and jars below the work bench, and bring her shelf worth of figures outside, rested it against the building, knowing that those would be safe from harassment. Her thoughts lingered to Madena as her eyes met the winged serpent figure, smiling to herself. She had helped the woman craft a figure of her own, but unlike Akasha, Madena would need an actual furnace to make glass work; and without Akasha's guiding hands, she probably couldn't replicate the creation. She put the thought aside, turning instead to those that might be interesting in purchasing her wares. She found a way to make plates out of glass recently, so hopefully that would be a big seller today; because frankly she was getting tired of making jars and vases all day.

As the day passed on, Akasha had sold most of her jars and vases, but only a handful of plates. While the figures had drawn some attention as well, many were too concerned they would break; especially after Akasha informed them they were not toys, but sculptures. People here were so uncultured. Seeing there was more room for her to put vases, Akasha returned into her house, returning with both her hands full of vases. Coming out, she spotted a red haired woman inspecting one of her figures, it looked to be the green flying snake to be exactly. Setting the vases under the table, Akasha moved to the woman's side. "Did you need help with something ma'am?" Akasha asked, fully expecting the woman to leave once she realized what she held was no child's toy. It was hard being an artist, if only she had gotten that sand art business off the ground her customers would be more used to the idea. Akasha's skin had a shimmer to it now, as hours in the sun from dusk til noon had triggered her unusual bloodline trait, but cared not; after all, most people thought nothing of it.

It was quite obvious what drew Allison to this particular booth, even more so why she wasn't leaving anytime soon. In her hands was a serpent made of green jade that had wings on its back. While she didn't know a snake that could fly, she did know a green snake. Rather well if she admitted. It was one of her fewer good memories she had that she hoped would never fade. Seeing this gem brought a smile to Allison's face. Her first thought was to buy it right then and there so she'd always remember her. But, Allison's funds were limited. And, she had nowhere to store it. Maybe once she secured a ride out of town...

Behind her she would hear someone ask if she needed help. Turning her head with a smile she looked at the blond woman who likely owned the store. "Oh no thank you," she replied out of politeness. "I was just admiring these....glasses. I've never seen anything like it."

Akasha smiled at the compliment, relaxing as she seemed to have garnered a potential customer. "I certainly hope not, I made all of this myself, all by hand." Akasha reaffirmed, looking about the street to see if anyone else might have stopped by her stand, for the moment it was only the two of them. "Oh, and that figure you're holding isn't for sale I'm afraid, it's just there to draw attention. Those other figures are however." She said, motioning to the small red dragon and yellow hawk sitting beside the snake figure. Akasha couldn't bare to part with the figure, after all she had gifted her own to Madena, with only the hand made replacement severing as a reminder to the time they shared.

Seeing as how this was her only customer, Akasha crossed her arms rather casually and continued talking. "Did you just come into port? You seem to be the traveling type." Akasha prodded, rather curious about what had brought the woman here.

"You made all of this?" Allison exclaimed. While Akasha might expect that sort of response in the line of "Oh wow you're so talented." To Allison, it was more along the lines of, "How is such a thing possible?"

To her comment then right after the statement of making the glass herself, Akasha then pointed out the snake figurine which the redhead was holding was not for sale. "Oh heavens! My apologies!" She quickly set it back down, though she did so with enough care as to make sure it wouldn't break or rattle. Her eyes shifted to the dragon and the hawk, both of which were appealing, just not as significant.

"I'm sorry. It's just...something about the snake made me think of a friend. I was hoping to have met up with her by now but I think I'm either early or too late. Hopefully the former."

Akasha would then ask her if she had just gotten into port and she nodded her head, "I did yeah. I left out of Riverkeep, made a quick stop on Nal Sur, then here. And I have to say, I was sorely misled. They told me this part of the Empire was all desert. But I don't see a lick of sand."

Akasha enjoyed the woman's reaction, it wasn't everyday she heard praise for her work, and it felt nice to get some back for once. "Indeed I did, right here in my home." She affirmed. She hadn't intended for the woman to set the glass back down, she could appreciate it all she wished, but it wasn't for sale.

"No, it's fine. Funny you mention that, that was a gift from a friend of mine, but feel free to look at it all you wish. It's a wonderful little piece don't you agree?" Akasha said smiling, as she inched closer to the woman. How interesting, she should mention that, a small tingle of curiosity stirred at the back of her mind, but she put it aside; it was a coincidence and nothing more. "I'm sure you'll meet up with her sooner than later. I often had the same affair with my companions in the past, and I've traveled...well at least across the oceans." Akasha stated, her arms folded across her chest. She listened to the destinations that the stranger rattled off, though one in particular stuck her intrest."Riverkeep? I've been meaning to head out there at some point, but just never got around to it. How is it there?" Akasha asked, turning to speak with the woman directly. "They don't have glassware like this there do they? I'm trying to find cities that don't have works like this. Helps me afford my house payments." Akasha chuckled, though it was partly true. She had over-saturated her own market in the recent years, now the only way to get the best bang for her coin was traveling and selling her wares elsewhere.

When the lady explained that she made them here in her home, Allison tried looking over the girl's shoulder to see whatever magic secrets were in sight. To think someone could mold and design glass. It was a beautiful magic spell for sure. She was still learning how magic and the Myst worked, her own skills still underdeveloped. It didn't occur to Allison in the slightest that it didn't take magic to make such a gem (though being fireproof certainly would make it easier).

When she mentioned the sculpture was a gift from the friend it got Allison thinking even more about that possibility. If this store keeper could make glass, and apparently someone else as well, would it be possible to teach her how to make glass. After all, she knew she was a Magi (though she didn't understand how or why). Why couldn't she learn?

"No this is a miracle. I've never seen something so amazing. Using magic to make glass. It's profound! No one over there is harnessing a skill like this. But, for my friend though, I was hoping to meet with her here first, but I wasn't planning on staying in this city for more than a day. I was hoping to head to Lan-theo-ry Wilds. I'm told there's a large...uh....well that there's a lot of Myst there. Could hold some.....you know what? Nevermind. You probably don't want to hear it."

Seeing how excited the girl was getting just over Akasha's work filled the magi with a sense of pride. The girl had an eagerness to learn, and Akasha was tempted to show her just how she was doing it; after all, it wasn't like the girl could replicate Akasha's techniques. Perhaps she was something of a genius for taking this route with her magic.

"Well, I'd hardly call it a miracle...it just takes some practice to get it just right..." Seeing that the girl seemed to be in a bit of a bind, Akasha felt obligated to help out; after all, the girl seemed nice enough, Akasha could surely keep her busy for a day or two. "I've never been to the wilds myself, but I haven't heard very found things about it." Akasha commented, as she pondered on what Kharia had told her about the place and how dangerous she had found it. Still, she wasn't at all disinterested in what the woman had to say on the matter, as Akasha gave her a hand motion to keep explaining. "No, come on. I'd love to hear about it. I'm a myst user myself, I've been learning what I can for the past few years. Making this glass work was one of the ways I learned to practice control you know?" She stated proudly, hoping that was the encouragement the woman needed to tell her story. "I'm Akasha by the way, who might you be?"

"Even still...it's amazing to look at. You're extremely talented." Akasha would then comment on the wilds, explaining nothing good came out of it. "Well it's the best way to uncover some things I need...uncovered." To her delight, and some surprise, Akasha wished to hear whatever it was that Allison was trying to hide. Allison would shrug her shoulders and ask again if she really wanted her to, emphasizing as she did that it wasn't a very happy story. When she got permission to keep rolling with it, Akasha introduced herself and made the redhead smile.

"Allison Solis. And my story is more of a mystery than anything." As she spoke, she'd start walking around the rest of the 'store' to see all the other types of glassware. "The reason I'm looking for answers in the Wilds is because I need somewhere that predates the Empire. See, my memories are all foggy. I remember growing up, my past and my mother. But after that, everything is a blur. More specifically, I don't remember an Empire."

Allison let that settle for a moment as her finger traced another sculpture. "Something happened to me. I think...if such a thing is possible, I was sent into the future. Or maybe frozen in ice or something." she chuckled a little at the obscure thought then continued, "But I'm hoping there are clues within the Wilds about my past that will explain why I can't remember the large gap in my memory."

"Well thank you, I try. Typically someone just says 'hey this looks nice' and buys it." The platnium haired beauty chuckled. She humorous expression faded as Allison began explaining her life, how her memories were clouded and she needed to discover them. Akasha had heard stories about this, memory loss and what not, but Allison's insistence on the Empire not being in existence struck her as perplexing. Though...being sent into the future? That was nonsense talk. Just the thought of it didn't make sense, how could one jump into the future? Especially 800 years into the future of all things. Ugh, it hurt her brain just thinking about.

"Very interesting..." Akasha muttered, still processing the whole 'I'm from the past' thing. "Do you think perhaps you might have slipped into a myst nexus? Doing so could explain why you have no memory, and...well...if what you believe is true, it could have kept you alive for all this time." It wasn't exactly a rock solid explanation, but it was the best Akasha could come up with given what she did know about the world. Still, the woman seemed rather troubled by it, and Akasha always did want to go to the Wilds...but maybe that was something to bring up later. Still, the wilds were ancient and mysterious in that 'if you come here we'll kill you' kind of fashion, so clearly the woman would need help before venturing out there. "Do you have an idea of what you're looking for, or just hoping you'll know when you see it?" Akasha questioned, curious as to if this woman had an idea of what she was wanting to do.

"If I had money I would!" she chuckled back. She really wished she could buy up these beautiful things and store them somewhere. But that was her problem too. She didn't have a somewhere to keep them. They'd have to stay with her at all times. That ran the risk of breaking it and then what would have been the point?

After her story she pursed her lips in thought, "A Myst...nexus? I'm not sure what that is. I'm still learning how this whole Myst thing works. I don't remember anyone calling it 'Myst' when I was growing up." She listened to Akasha explain how it basically worked and then what Allison hoped to accomplish by going there. "I'm really just guessing. It all might be for naught. I've already been all around the other continent where the Empire is. Didn't find anything. So I figured time to cross this one now."

Akasha paused as she rubbed the back of her head. It was a myst nexus wasn't it? She couldn't remember, though what really caught her attention was when Allison stated she never recalled it being called Myst at all. Akasha leaned back, her eyes blinking as if it would help her process that sentence any better; it didn't. While she fumbled with the idea of time travel, she completely dropped the ball with this newer declaration. "Wow that's....very interesting." Akasha muttered, rubbing her temple. "A....myst nexus is like....mini dimension. Basically a breach in reality or something. Anyways, some people can find them and traverse though them into the myst realms, I think that's what it's called, though I have heard of memories being altered or forgotten due to the magical nature of the place." Akasha stopped, mulling over what she had just said. She never got an official 'schooling' about what was and wasn't how Myst worked. "Don't take what I say as written fact though, most of what I know is from second hand accounts." She confessed, though she felt she had a list...ten percent of all of that right. Maybe she'd have to ask Kharia for a refresher course on that stuff.

Seeing an opportunity arise, Akasha straightened her posture, as an idea began to take shape. "Well, perhaps we can work out a deal?" She asked, seeing that Allison was rather drawn to the sculptures. "I'm a business woman firstly, so maybe we can work out a deal. I'll give you one of these works for free, but I'd like to learn something of yours as compensation. I'll even reveal how I make these little sculptures for you." Akasha looked at the woman, wondering as to what the response was going to be. If she knew Allison better, she would have asked to accompany her to the Wilds. "And even if you go trekking out to the wilds, I can keep it right here for you so you don't have to worry about losing it." Akasha did enjoy her generous streaks when she could spare them, but more than that she enjoyed information and learning; hell, that was the only reason she was so knowledgeable for a literal street urchin.

Akasha would explain the definition of a Myst nexus, at least as far as her memory served her. Allison would only shrug her shoulders and say she wouldn't know any better either. Using this opportunity to make a business deal, the woman formed an idea in her head and approached the redhead with her offer. Explaining she would give Ally one of the sculptures if Allison taught the silver haired woman something of hers. And with that, she'd even explain the process of how to make the figures out of glass.

Naturally, Allison's eyes lit up. "Oh shiny! That's so sweet of you! Of course I'll share something with you. I'm an open book, really. I just..." she had to stop for a second. What could she share? As far as she knew, her own powers weren't some spell. Could they be taught to someone else? She tried to remember back when she was younger that her mother specifically schooled her in her own abilities. None of the other clans-members were ever in session with her. And she never remembered a single other person doing what her and her mother could do.

While she thought about it, Akasha continued to then offer that if she did cross to the Wilds, whichever sculpture she decided on could stay here in the shop until she came back for it. That certainly was a more pleasing deal. If she didn't have to worry about it breaking in her sack she would be much more clear of mind when traversing. But that still didn't solve the problem of if she was able to teach Akasha anything.

"I um....well how about this. I'll try to teach you. I'm honestly not a very good teacher. And with what I can do...there's no sure way of knowing if you can do what I do either. Plus, playing with fire is really dangerous. If you burn yourself I would feel just awful. I'd hate for you not to be able to make these glasses because I was negligent in instructing you."

Akasha was rather delighted by Allison's response, smiling as she seemed receptive towards the idea, though she seemed to mental stumble over something as there was a hesitation to her words. The reason was soon apparent, as Allison reveled her concern over Akasha being injured by learning. Though given the injury of concern was fire based, Akasha chuckled. "Well, if it's fire that is no issue at all. I'm rather heat immune." To prove her point, Akasha summoned a flame from the tip of her right index finger and stroked it down the length of her left hand, leaving it completely unphased. Looking back to Allison, Akasha's expression hadn't changed in the slightest.

"Well, my last teacher said the exact same thing, yet I learned more with her than anyone else. So, it's worth a shot. Maybe I can teach you some new things as well." Akasha stated, cutting off her magic as the flame was snuffed out. "It doesn't even have to be magic frankly, it can be a crafting skill, or whatever you think is valuable. Information is information, I won't look a gaunt horse in the mouth." Akasha wasn't lying either, frankly anything she could learn from someone else could prove useful down the road. She enjoyed showing others how to work with glass, so frankly learning anything else was just a bonus. "But yes, playing with fire is...something I've been doing since I was a child. It's how I've all that you see here." Akasha stated, waving a hand over her assortment of glassware.

"Wait what?" she asked, unsure if she'd heard the girl right. When Akasha then ignited fire from her own fingertips, Allison shrieked in delight, "Shiny!"

Allison moved closer and bent in as if looking at some exotic animal while Akasha slide the flame down her arm. "That is so shiny! You-you-you can make actual fire!" The redhead would go to grab it, holding it into her own hands like it was a tiny bird that might fly away with the wind.

Akasha would try to explain that her teacher taught her a few things and it didn't matter what Allison had to offer, but the redhead was too busy focusing on the flame in her hands. The blond would also notice that the fire clearly wasn't burning this girl either.

"This is so shiny!" she said again. Turning back to Akasha she held the flame out flat and it danced there right in her hand, flickering gently with the wind. "You can make actual fire. Like...actual...fire. Do you know how shiny that is? I can only bend it."

Explaining what she meant, Allison brought her other hand up and pulled it like she was pulling strings. The fire followed the path to her other hand where she cupped it there instead. "I've never been able to make fire. Well....except for that one time. I nearly burned the bed down with my partner." Allison didn't feel embarrassed at all by that story it seemed, "But I think that was just me using the heat around us. She and I really.....got things cooking."

Allison giggled and then held the fire back out to Akasha to take. "I never thought I'd ever meet another fire-user. It's almost like we're sisters!"
